World Surf League 2026: Raglan, New Zealand Replaces Jeffreys Bay on Championship Tour (2026)

Get ready for some thrilling news in the world of surfing! The World Surf League (WSL) has just dropped a bombshell announcement that will shake up the 2026 Championship Tour.

In a move that has left many surfers and fans surprised, the WSL has decided to replace Jeffereys Bay, South Africa, with a new iconic location: Manu Bay in Raglan, New Zealand. This left-point break will now be the fourth stop on the highly anticipated 2026 CT schedule, running from May 15-25 during the Southern Hemisphere's deep fall, a perfect time to catch some epic waves.

WSL CEO Ryan Crosby explained the decision, expressing their love for J-Bay and the community but highlighting the need for financial viability and long-term success for professional surfing. "Our goal is to ensure the world's best surfers have a platform to thrive, and that means making tough choices for the overall health of the business," Crosby stated.

But here's where it gets controversial... Adding another left to the tour, especially one as renowned as Manu Bay, is a bold move. With Teahupo'o, Fiji, and Pipeline already featuring left breaks, the CT now boasts four true lefts. Saquarema in Brazil and Supertubos in Portugal, known for their solid beachbreaks, help balance the tour's lineup.

Yago Dora, a WSL surfer, expressed his excitement: "I've been asking for a rippable left on the schedule for ages, and now we've got it! I can't wait to experience New Zealand's beauty and compete at Raglan for the first time."

Raglan's potential to deliver waves within the competition window is a crucial factor. If successful, The Raglan Surf Report will be buzzing with content for months.

So, what do you think about this unexpected change? Is it a bold step forward or a risky move? Share your thoughts in the comments and let's discuss the future of surfing!
